KoKMA to organise business, investment forum

In a move to attract investment and accelerate local economic development, the Korle-Klottey Municipal Assembly (KoKMA) is set to organise a business and investment forum to foster collaboration between the public and private sectors and showcase the municipality’s investment potential.

Dubbed the Korle-Klottey Business and Investment Forum 2026 and scheduled to come off in Accra on Tuesday, June 9, the forum is being organised as a high-level platform to facilitate dialogue, showcase investment opportunities, promote strategic partnerships, and mobilise investments for sustainable socio-economic transformation, especially the provision of services and infrastructure within the municipality.

It is aimed among others at showcasing the economic and investment potential of the municipality; promoting strategic partnerships between government, investors, financial institutions, and the private sector to address energy, service and industry gap in the city; providing a networking platform for local businesses, entrepreneurs, and development partners and highlighting priority sectors for investment, particulary tourism, hospitality, ICT and innovation, real estate, green economy, creative arts and heritage, urban infrastructure and market redevelopment.

The Municipal Chief Executive of the assembly, Alfred Allotey-Gaisie, who announced this at a press conference on June 2, said they expected to bring all the corporate institutions within the municipality and those they shared a border with together so that they could have discussions bothering on development of the municipality and how best the assembly could also help them grow their businesses.

“So this forum is supposed to find some level of synergy, and how we could work together as stakeholders within the municipality to improve on whatever conditions we have - whether our local or corporate conditions,” he explained.

Mr Allotey-Gaisie said they were expecting approximately 150 corporate institutions to attend the forum, and they included government officials and policymakers from central and local governments; diplomatic missions and international organisations; local and foreign investors; banks and other financial institutions; SMEs and start-up entrepreneurs; traditional authorities and community leaders, as well as academia and research institutions.

Boasting of the municipality’s strategic location in the city, he said it was home to a lot of businesses, including banks, telecommunication companies, hotels and food chains, with most of these institutions having their headquarters also in the municipality.

He said that with a lot of embassies also residing in the municipality, they had invited them to the forum to see whether they could have sister- city collaboration.

He said they wanted investors to see that they were serious as a municipality and that they were ready to support them in all aspects.

He mentioned some of the key activities of the forum to be a presentation, which would cover topics such as promoting business and investment opportunities in the municipality, creating employment opportunities through local economic development strategies, and the role of district assemblies.

Side events

Mr Allotey-Gaisie said there would be side events and exhibition components at the forum to showcase the municipality’s economic potential, development achievements and priority areas, and these were expected to provide participants, investors and development partners with practical insight into available opportunities with the municipality.

“The side events will include an exhibition of key investment areas and business opportunities within Korle-Klottey Municipality; a showcase of completed and ongoing assembly projects and development achievements; a display of local businesses, tourism assets, hospitality services, and creative industry potentials; and engagement sessions between investors, business owners, and relevant departments of the Assembly,” it said.

On the benefits of the forum, the MCE said it was expected that it would increase awareness of business and investment opportunities in the municipality; strengthen partnerships between public and private sector actors; enhance visibility for local businesses and entrepreneurs; develop actionable investment and business collaboration initiatives; and improve stakeholder commitment towards sustainable local economic development.

“The Korle-Klottey Business and Investment Forum 2026 presents a unique opportunity to position the municipality as a dynamic hub for business growth, innovation and sustainable investment,” he said.
