Operations suspended at Atlantic Lithium's Ewoyaa site following death of worker
Atlantic Lithium, an Australian mining company developing Ghana's first lithium mine, has suspended operations following a fatal accident at its Ewoyaa project site.

The company in a statement confirmed a worker died yesterday while on duty. Details surrounding the incident remain unclear.
The statement said a full investigation is underway by authorities, with Atlantic Lithium's senior leadership team present at the site to assist.
"We are deeply saddened to report this loss," the statement said. The company expressed their deepest sympathies to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased, offering their full support during this difficult time.
The Ewoyaa project, located in Ghana's Central Region, secured a 15-year mining permit last year and was expected to become a significant contributor to the country's lithium production.
The mine's development was crucial for Atlantic Lithium's future, with a recent study projecting the production of millions of tonnes of spodumene concentrate over its lifespan.
The suspension of operations is likely to cause delays in the project's timeline. Safety protocols and practices are expected to be reviewed based on the investigation's findings.
The company's share price is currently trading at GH₵6 on the Ghana Stock Exchange after it listed at GH₵4.40 in May.
