Products from used tyres, waste plastics to go commercial
The Radford University College will begin full commercialisation of various products it has developed from plastic waste and used car tyres.

The products include upholstered chairs and portraits for photographs.
The Faculty Adviser to the students, Mr Alan Dwomoh Sarpong, made this known to the Daily Graphic after the university placed third in the annual Enactus Competition for tertiary institutions in the country.
The University of Ghana came first followed by the Kwame Nkrumah University and Science and Technology (KNUST).
He said the university had already been approached by five investors to discuss collaboration on developing the products for commercial purposes.
Early last week, Mr Sarpong said the university, which had orders from South Africa, exported 10 portraits of the late American civil rights leader, Martin Luther King to that country.
Target
According to Mr Sarpong, the university had targeted hotels, banks, restaurants and residential facilities to supply the products made by its students who were from all departments of the university.
He noted that the works presented by Radford had received coverage from international television networks including Aljazeera and CNN.

During the competition in Accra, five students who represented 56 other students aside the Radford University used the plastic waste to mold a portrait and chair.
