RMG assumes part of Wienco business

Agribusiness company, Regional Market Group (RMG) Concept Limited, has taken over the agro input business of Wienco Ghana Limited.

By that arrangement, RMG will be responsible for the supply of inputs, including pesticide and other agriculture chemicals, while Wienco Ghana Limited will focus on commodities and food production.

The Managing Director of RMG, Mr William A. Kotey, announced this at the inauguration of the company’s new office complex in Kumasi. It is to serve the northern sector of the country.

“We believe that the most appropriate way to ensure food security in Ghana and create wealth for farmers is to improve their productivity and the best way to achieve this is to ensure that they receive the best and the most advanced technology in agriculture,” he said.

The Head of Business of RMG, Mr Roland Nii Ayi Quaye,said the concept was to ensure that agriculture was treated as a serious business and on sustainable basis.

Beyond the supply of inputs to Ghanaian farmers and those on the African continent, RMG will also be responsible for farmer education concerning all kinds of crop protection and provide a one-stop shops or depots where original farm products could be purchased and applied.

He said beyond farmer education, attention would be paid to the provision of irrigation and bio-pesticide.
