Rural banks urged to train staff in customer care

The Managing Director (MD) of the ARB APEX Bank, Mr Kwadwo Ayeh-Kusi, has charged management of Rural and Community Banks to take keen interest in training their staff to give good customer care to their clients.

This, he explained would ensure their survival in the mist of stiff competition in the banking industry in the country, adding that good customer care and other factors held the key to attracting and retaining customers. 

Mr Ayeh-Kusi made the call in an address read for him by the Ashanti Regional Manager of ARB APEX, Mr George Annor, during the official opening of the Abuakwa branch of the Amanano Rural Bank in the Atwima Nwabiagya District of Ashanti region.

This brings to six the number of branches of the bank which is headquartered in Nyinahini in the Atwima Mponua District of Ashanti with the other branches at Tafo, Mbrom, Afful-Nkwanta and Bibiani.

He also urged the banks to institute awards for their staff who excel in customer service to serve as a motivation for efficient delivery of their staff.

Commendation

Mr Aye-Kusi, eulogized staff and management of Amanano Rural Bank for their role in the banking industry in the country and urged them to work extra hard to bring their services to many others in the region and the country as a whole.

He also commended them for the hard work and commitment they have shown over the years and also for the efficient management of the bank’s resources which had made Amanano a household name in the banking industry.

The MD stated that the opening of the Abuakwa branch of the bank, a business growing community was a clear demonstration of Amanano Rural Bank’s commitment as a partner in the financial development of its customers in and around Kumasi.

Location

The Board Chairman of Amanano Rural Bank, Mr Anthony Kwame Gyan, said the strategic location of Abuakwa was the major factor leading to the opening of the new branch there, adding that it was a link between Ashanti, Brong Ahafo and the Western regions of the country.

He stated that another reason that made the bank to open the branch there was the increasing population of the area which kept attracting a number of institutions and firms due to the growing prospects for business.

Mr Gyan assured clients and would-be customers that the bank would continue to put in place the right measures to ensure the safety and increase in their investment.

The President of the Ashanti Regional chapter of Association of Rural Banks, Mr Philip Bondah, urged management of rural and community banks to take good care of their client’s investment by avoiding wasteful investments.

He urged the banks to create products that stand the chance of supporting and improving the lives of their clients and people in their operational areas through poverty reduction.
