Trust Clinic Dansoman goes 24-hour to meet growing healthcare demand

Trust Clinic Dansoman has formally rolled out a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week healthcare service, expanding its operations to meet growing demand for continuous medical care in Dansoman and surrounding communities.

The service, which took effect on January 30, positions the clinic, one of six under The Trust Hospital Company Limited, as a round-the-clock healthcare provider, eliminating time barriers that often limit access to medical attention.

Speaking at the launch, the Supervising Director of The Trust Hospital Company Limited, Dr Henry Alhasasan, said the move was a deliberate, people-focused decision shaped by the realities of healthcare needs within the community.

“Our 24-hour service is more than an operational expansion; it is a promise, a promise that no one in this community will be turned away because of the time on the clock,” he said.

Dr Alhasasan stressed that the initiative guarantees consistent professional care regardless of the hour, describing accessibility, reliability and proximity as the pillars of the expanded service. He paid tribute to the clinic’s staff, noting their readiness to deliver care at any time of day or night.

“These are men and women who will respond with the same professionalism at 2:00 a.m. as at 2:00 p.m. Their sacrifice and commitment are the backbone of this 24-hour service,” he said.

The decision to operate round the clock follows a sustained rise in patient attendance and repeated appeals from residents for extended hours. According to the Head of Facility, Dr David Ntiamoah, the expansion was driven by clear evidence of unmet demand beyond standard working hours.

“Community members have long advocated for extended services, often describing a 24-hour operation as long overdue,” he said, adding, “Today marks a major milestone in the history of Trust Hospital Company Limited, one that will significantly improve healthcare delivery in Dansoman and its surrounding communities.”

Dr Ntiamoah explained that the clinic submitted a formal proposal to management after assessing patient trends and service pressures. The proposal, he said, underwent careful review before receiving approval, culminating in the launch of the 24-hour service.

The initiative received strong backing from local government authorities. The Municipal Chief Executive of the Ablekuma West Municipal Assembly, George Kpakpo Allotey, described the development as timely and consistent with the national push towards a 24-hour economy.

He said extending healthcare services beyond traditional hours would improve access to care while strengthening productivity, safety and economic resilience within the municipality.

The Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West, Rev. Kweku Addo, also welcomed the development, saying families would no longer be left without options during late-night emergencies. Drawing on biblical principles, he noted that illness does not conform to schedules, reinforcing the need for uninterrupted healthcare services.

In a show of support, the MP and the MCE jointly donated ten streetlights to improve visibility and safety around the clinic and adjoining access roads, particularly in areas previously affected by poor lighting.

Community members present at the launch echoed the optimism. A long-standing client of the clinic, Dr Alexander Archine, said the introduction of the 24-hour service reflected the clinic’s responsiveness to patient needs.

“The quality of service at Trust Clinic Dansoman has steadily improved, and the introduction of a 24-hour service shows that the hospital truly listens to its patients,” he said, describing the move as a step in the right direction.

The Trust Hospital Company Limited, which has operated for over three decades, runs four hospitals and six clinics across the Greater Accra Region, offering a wide range of specialist and emergency services. The company says the Dansoman expansion underscores its commitment to accessible, customer-focused healthcare anchored in professionalism and innovation.
