Unilever Ghana appoints Tucci Ivowi to board as Non-Executive Director
Unilever Ghana Plc has announced the appointment of Mrs Setutsi Goka Ivowi, popularly known as Tucci Ivowi, as a Non-Executive Director effective October 1, 2025.
The appointment forms part of the company’s strategy to strengthen corporate governance and enrich strategic decision-making with diverse leadership experience.
Mrs Ivowi is an accomplished marketing and business management professional with more than two decades of experience in the consumer goods and manufacturing sectors. Her appointment, the company said, reinforces Unilever Ghana’s commitment to visionary leadership, market insight and a deep understanding of consumer behaviour.
She is the immediate past Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Commodity Exchange (GCX), where she led the organisation’s transformation into a major catalyst for agricultural trade and value chain efficiency. During her tenure, the Exchange expanded access to markets for smallholder farmers and promoted transparency within Ghana’s commodity markets. She also spearheaded the creation of the AfCFTA Association of Commodities Exchanges, an initiative aimed at boosting regional trade under the African Continental Free Trade Area framework.
Before her role at GCX, Mrs Ivowi had a distinguished career with Nestlé, where she worked in the United Kingdom, Southeast Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. She made history at Nestlé Central and West Africa Ltd. as the first female and first Ghanaian Business Executive Officer (Executive Director), overseeing operations across 22 countries. Her leadership was characterised by strategic clarity, business transformation, and a focus on purpose-driven growth.
Earlier in her career, Mrs Ivowi worked with leading multinational brands including Unilever and British American Tobacco as a trusted agency partner. These experiences, according to Unilever Ghana, gave her a strong appreciation of how consumers engage emotionally and behaviourally with brands, extending her insight beyond conventional marketing practice.
Her return to Unilever Ghana, this time as a member of the Board, marks a significant milestone in a career defined by innovation, resilience, and leadership. With her extensive expertise in brand management, business transformation and corporate strategy, she is expected to contribute significantly to Unilever Ghana’s mission of delivering sustainable growth and shared value.
Mrs Ivowi’s appointment is part of a wider Board restructuring that also includes the appointments of Ms Angela Kyeremanten-Jimoh, Mr Peterson Ekow Afedzie and Mr Djabanor Narh as Non-Executive Directors, effective the same date. These additions, Unilever Ghana noted, reflect its commitment to diversity and strategic renewal as the company positions itself for its next phase of growth.
