Universal Merchant Bank opens new branch at Labone

Universal Merchant Bank (UMB), a full-service financial institution noted for good customised banking products and services, has opened a new branch in the Labone residential area in Accra.

It is located opposite the Labone Senior High School.

UMB is recognised for its entrepreneurial approach, innovative use of technology and distinctive banking solutions.

The bank started operations on March 15, 1972 and is one of the leading Ghanaian indigenous banks with considerable financial expertise.

UMB currently has 23 branches and the number is expected to increase before the end of the year, while its vast ATM network also continues to expand.

Opening the branch at a colourful ceremony in Accra,  the Chief Operating Officer of the bank, Mr Stephen Antwi-Asimeng, said the branch was the first of several new branches that UMB would be inaugurated before the end of the year.

He said since the beginning of the year, the bank had experienced one major change and the aim was to refocus.

Mr Antwi-Asimeng said outfitted with a self-service 24 Hour E-Zone complete with 24 Hour ATMs and E-Banking services, the Labone branch is a truly state-of-the-art banking facility designed to address the varied needs of today’s consumer.

He said the bank could boast 40 ATMs and hoped to increase the number before the close of the year.

The MD/CEO, Nilla Selormey, noted, "This branch and others that will soon follow are a physical manifestation of our first platform and our commitment to making sure that our branches align with the needs and aspirations of our customers.”

She indicated that in every aspect of the Labone branch, the design took into consideration the well-being of their customers and the convenience, ease and innovation that they required in their banking services.

“Indeed, as you enter the branch, the inviting décor, the friendly and knowledgeable staff and the array of products and services communicate the fact that UMB is focused on meeting the needs of its customers,” she stated.

In addition to its wide range of banking services for the everyday customer, she said the Labone branch also houses the Prominence Club and UMB’s exclusive Private Banking department, whose flagship location would open soon in UMB’s new corporate headquarters.
