ECG announces Friday power cuts in Accra East and Ashanti Regions for planned maintenance

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has scheduled planned maintenance exercises in the Accra East and Ashanti Regions for Friday, May 8, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance service reliability and strengthen the stability of the national grid.

According to advisories issued by the power distributor, the outages will commence at 9:00 am in both regions, with durations varying depending on the scope of works to be carried out at each location.

In the Accra East Region, a planned maintenance operation will run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, affecting Ghana Atomic Energy, Ashongman Estate, Ga Municipal Hospital, and surrounding areas. The eight-hour outage will impact both residential and institutional zones, including a major healthcare facility.

In the Ashanti Region, a planned maintenance exercise will run from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, affecting C.Man Estates, Bebianiha, Asikuma, Meretweso, Nsuiem 1 and 2, Esaase, and surrounding areas.

In its public notices, the ECG extended its apologies to all affected customers, acknowledging the inconvenience that such technical interventions inevitably cause to both domestic and commercial activities.

The company reassured the public that the planned exercises are necessary to ensure the long-term robustness of the power network and to ultimately deliver improved service to consumers across the regions.
