Kuami Eugene: TGMA doesn’t define success in music industry

Award-winning Ghanaian musician Kuami Eugene has stated that the Telecel Ghana Music Awards(TGMA) should not be seen as the ultimate measure of success in the music industry.

According to the “Angela” hitmaker, although winning awards adds value to an artiste’s brand and career, it does not define one’s entire journey or achievements in music. He explained that while he still hopes to win more accolades, including Artiste of the Year again, he does not allow award outcomes to determine his happiness or self-worth.

Kuami Eugene, who won Artiste of the Year at the 2020 Ghana Music Awards, noted that recognition is important but should not become the sole focus for musicians. He stressed that success goes beyond trophies and includes the impact an artiste makes through their craft and consistency.

The singer has previously shared concerns about the competitive nature of the music industry, describing it as a “bloody game” where some people “will do anything” for validation following the 2024 TGMA ceremony.
