Young achievers go green: Forty Under 40 nominees plant trees in Accra

Nominees for the prestigious Forty Under 40 Awards has participated in a tree planting initiative near the Achimota overpass in the Okaikwei North District of Greater Accra.

The event, dubbed "Plant More Trees Project," was organized as part of the Corporate Social Responsibility efforts by Xodus Communications Limited, the award's organizer.

This initiative aligns with the 2024 award theme, "Sustainable Development and Environmental Stewardship." 

The project was a collaborative effort involving PayAngel (the award's ultimate sponsor), WeCare, FeDems, National Alternative Employment and Livelihood Programme, and the Okaikwei North District Assembly.

Richard Abbey Junior, CEO of Xodus Communications Limited, emphasized the company's commitment to environmental protection. 

He expressed gratitude to Dr. Opoku Mensah of the WeCare Foundation for providing technical support. 

Mr Abbey stressed the importance of trees for sustaining life on Earth, stating, "Trees are crucial for giving life, and without them, we cannot breathe."

The Municipal Chief Executive of Okaikwei North Constituency, Boye Laryea, welcomed the initiative. 

He thanked Xodus Communications Limited for their contribution to environmental protection and assured that the planted trees would be well-maintained.

The 2024 Forty Under 40 Awards ceremony is scheduled for Friday, September 7, at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel. 

The event aims to celebrate young achievers under 40 years old who have made significant contributions in their respective fields.
