Daniel Amartey settles medical bills for 8 children at Koforidua Central Hospital
The player’s publicist, Daniel Odame, visited the hospital yesterday (November 27) to meet the management and handed over the money to them.
The gesture was met with gratitude from both the medical staff and families affected by the footballer's benevolence.
Child freedom
Mr Odame, who spoke on behalf of the footballer, said it was very sad seeing the children detained in the hospital while their colleagues were in school learning.
He emphasised the importance of children having their freedom to live a fulfilled life.
He, therefore, expressed his excitement about the gesture while adding that there were other humanitarian initiatives in the pipeline.
Mr Odame also encouraged other philanthropists and organisations to prioritise the welfare of children.
According to her, the hospital was not comfortable with the detention policy, but the situation called for it.
She, therefore, urged other philanthropists to also embark on similar projects or if possible, adopt the unit and settled their bills from time to time.
The beneficiaries also commended the player for facilitating their release from the facility.
