The immediate family of the late Nigerian reggae legend Majekodunmi Fasheke, popularly known as Majek Fashek, is seeking funds to help with his burial.

They are pleading with the general public to aid them financially to bring the corpse of the musician home for burial from the United States of America.

House of Representatives member, Ehiozuwa Johnson Agbonayinma made the plea on behalf of the family.

The legislator who is a music enthusiast and owner of U&I Records made the call on Friday, June 5.

“With the support of the family, the children, we are looking at how we can bring him to Nigeria to be buried. This is going to cost quite a lot of money, especially with the challenge of COVID-19.

"So, we are trying to raise funds. The only account we have right now to be donated to, is the eldest son’s account, Randy Majek”, he said.

The performer, popular for hits such as Send Down the Rain and So Long for Too Long, died in his sleep in New York at the age of 57.

The musician also worked with stars like Jimmy Cliff, Tracy Chapman and Snoop Dogg.

“He’s done a lot for Nigeria and Africa,” his manager said.
