Stranded at Agbogbloshie in Accra: Please help AMA to trace family of Madam Rose Okraku
The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), through its Department of Social Welfare and Community Development, is appealing for public assistance to trace the family of a woman believed to be in her 60s who has been found stranded at Agbogbloshie in Accra.
The woman, identified as Madam Rose Okraku, is currently in the care of the AMA after she was reportedly found stranded and unable to locate her destination upon arriving in Accra.
How she got lost
According to the Head of Public Affairs at the AMA, Gilbert Nii Ankrah, information available to the Assembly indicates that Madam Okraku reportedly boarded a 'trotro, from Kasoa Market to Accra on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
He said upon reaching Accra, Madam Okraku could not identify where she was going, a situation that raised concern and led to her being assisted and handed over to the appropriate authorities.
Dementia diagnosis
He said preliminary information gathered indicated that Madam Okraku had been diagnosed with dementia and was undergoing treatment. He noted that her condition may have contributed to her inability to properly identify her destination or locate her relatives after arriving in Accra.
The Department of Social Welfare and Community Development has since taken custody of her and is working to ensure her safety while efforts are made to locate her family.
