10th edition of the 'Ghana Dance Festival' announced

'Dancetera', the organizers of the annual Ghana Dance Festival, have announced the dates for the 2024 celebration of the Ghana Dance Festival, set to take place from 29th August to 23rd September 2024.

The festival will culminate in an awards ceremony to honor the icons of dance and their immense contributions to the dance community in Ghana. In a statement released yesterday, Robert Klah, Chief Executive Officer of 'Dancetera', revealed that this year's edition, marking the 10th anniversary of the event, will be especially significant.

Explaining why this year's edition will stand out, Klah mentioned the introduction of exciting new elements. "There are additions to this special edition: the DanceSport League and the Dance Awards. With dance becoming part of the Olympics, it is crucial to have local engagements to keep it active. Including the awards as part of the festival has been planned for a long time. This year, we are thrilled to pursue this path,” he stated.

Robert Klah further emphasized that dancing is a universal form of expression. “Dance means different things to different people. For some, it is a source of exercise, an act of worship, a source of entertainment, a career path, an academic pursuit, a sport, an intangible cultural heritage, or an art form. Whatever dance means to you, the dance festival seeks to celebrate it," he stated.

Activities lined up for the 10th edition of the 'Ghana Dance Festival' include dance awards, tour experiences, dance parties, workshops, seminars, and performances showcasing various dance styles such as theatre dance, street dance, folk dance, praise dance, Afrolatin dance, and dancesport battles.

According to Robert Klah, international dancers from Togo, Benin, Nigeria, South Africa, and Kenya have confirmed their participation in this year's event. Any dancer who wishes to participate can register via the Ghana Dance Festival's social media pages.
