20 artistes to rock music awards

Twenty chartbuster Ghanaian artistes and three top African acts may seem quite a busload for any show organiser for one night; not Charterhouse. They have promised to deliver an awesome line-up at Saturday’s 12th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards and sure they will.

Known for their rich experience in events production, Charterhouse Ghana, organisers of the annual event have revealed that they are flying in from the UK , celebrated  Ghanaian gospel artiste, Sonnie Badu  and his 12 piece band. Sonnie himself  has been nominated in a number of categories including the highly coveted Artiste of the Year category.

Samini and Kwabena Kwabena have remained phenomenal on the Ghana music scene and beyond. From last year to date  Samini has been compelled to step up his act a notch higher as his every move has somewhat been  compared to that of fellow dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale.

With a voice many ladies would die for, Kwabena Kwabena on the other hand has earned a great deal of respect across varied audiences.

Until a few young ones recently dared enter the space, it appeared he was the sole young man flying the highlife flag in GH. Both Kwabena Kwabena and Samini have also been nominated in the Artiste of the Year and other categories.

Patrons to this year’s VGMA’s must definitely brace up for a thrill.

But those aren’t the only acts on the night. Arguably the hottest high life track in GH today, Odo Pa by Castro, featuring Kofi Kinaata and Baby jet will also be performed alongside tracks like Metanfo, Baaba and Odo Carpenter by Bisa Kdei.

Jupiter, Stonebwoy, Guru, Joey B, OJ and a couple of international acts are also set to rock the stage. Notable among these are hot Nigerian acts Iyanya and Davido who are both resolved to leave memories on the VGMA stage.

But how could the list be complete without Ghana’s fastest rap title holder, Sarkodie? Having appeared on wicked tracks with crooner Fuse ODG and budding star, Joey B, not forgetting his release of the thrilling 33 track Sarkology album, there’s no stopping the VGMA’s Best Rapper and Artiste of the Year winner who has promised beyond every other thing to shut down the event by not just sweeping home awards, but also treating his fans and the rest of GH to what he’s really made of.

So which names have not been mentioned? Does it mean they aren’t performing or is Charterhouse on the path of hitting patrons with a night of many surprises? Saturday will tell.

The Vodafone Ghana Music Awards is produced by Charterhouse with support from GHOne Entertainment TV, Alisa Hotel, Golden Tulip Hotel, refreshed by Star Beer and proudly sponsored by Vodafone.
