Abutia outdoors Paramount Queen
THE new Paramount Queen of Abutia Traditional Area, Mamaga Agaleveto II was introduced to the people at the forecourt of Abutia Traditional Council Office on Thursday (March 19) at Abutia-Teti amid pomp and celebration.
The retired Assistant Director of Education, known in private life as Margaret Adzoa Amedzro, was honoured for her outstanding and distinguished contribution to education with the UNESCO Living Values Education Programme Award in 2007, and the Best Teacher Award from the Accra Education Directorate in 2010.
She succeeds Mamaga Agbeme Adzoa III, who passed on five years ago, after reigning for more than 40 years.
The product of Amedzofe College of Education also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Education, Winneba has six children.
Mamaga Agaleveto, 76, was consecrated a Presbyter in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana in November, 2009, following decades of devoted service to the church.
In her maiden speech as Paramount Queen, Mamaga Agaleveto pledged to serve as mother of all the Abutia communities.
She further pledged to work with the Paramount Chief, Togbega Abutia Kodzo Gidi V, the various queens, Abutia Traditional Council, and all stakeholders to promote unity, peace and development in Abutia.
“Above all, I am committed to the welfare of our women, and children, for they are the foundation upon which the strength and future of every community rests,” Mamaga Agaleveto added.
In a goodwill message, Togbe Abutia Kodzo Gidi V said Abutia had always stood as a symbol of unity continuity, and the collective identity of the people, adding the chiefs and queen were confident Mamaga Agaleveto would uphold that sacred trust with wisdom and dignity.
“In Mamaga we recognise a woman of humility, wisdom, dedication, and proven service to society,” he added.
