Afro-Brazil Ghana Festival heads to Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park for 2025 edition

The Afro-Brazil Ghana Festival 2025 will take place at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park and Museum in Accra, marking a significant moment for an event designed to celebrate the cultural bonds between Ghana and Brazil.

Organisers say the relocation to one of the country’s most symbolic national heritage sites reflects the festival’s expanding influence and its ambition to draw an even wider international audience.

In a statement jointly issued by Bigtwins Africa Music and Dance Ensemble and the Embassy of Brazil in Ghana, the organisers described the venue change as both strategic and meaningful. They noted that “the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park is more than just a venue; it is a symbol of Ghana’s history, identity, and international connections, making it the perfect setting for an event that celebrates Afro-Brazilian heritage.”

The two-day festival, scheduled for 12 and 13 December 2025, will present a vibrant blend of Afro-Brazilian and Ghanaian artistic expression. The programme includes a cultural exhibition, an art, fashion and food bazaar, live band performances, traditional displays and a major concert featuring a lineup of performers from both countries. Artists billed to perform include Amandzeba, Wiyaala, Edem, Epixode, Bigtwins Africa Music and Dance Ensemble, Fancy Gadam and Black Rasta, alongside Brazilian singer Alaine Cruz.

The organisers say the expanded programme is intended to showcase the shared rhythms, histories and contemporary artistic energy that link communities across the Atlantic. They also believe the festival’s new location will enhance visitor experience and offer a stronger platform for cultural storytelling.

The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, the Ghana Tourism Authority and the Black Star Experience Secretariat are providing institutional support for the event. According to the organisers, the backing of these agencies underscores the festival’s contribution to cultural diplomacy, its potential to promote tourism and its role in positioning Ghana as a destination for global cultural exchange.

With preparations underway, organisers say their vision is to deliver an immersive experience that brings together artists, cultural leaders, tourists and the Ghanaian public in celebration of a shared Afro-Brazilian heritage.
