Christele Codo Crowned Miss Health Ghana 2023

Christele Codo, a hairstylist and public health student, has been crowned Miss Health Ghana 2023 at the culmination of the annual beauty pageant, held at the Labadi Beach Hotel last Sunday.

Ms. Codo emerged victorious after a series of competitions that tested her knowledge, eloquence, and commitment to promoting health and wellness. She impressed the five-member female panel of judges, comprising Dr. Grace Buckman, May Meskawi, Anne Coolen, Shallie Abbiusi, and Dr. Hannah Lisa Tetteh, with her passion for healthcare and her dedication to empowering women and girls.

Dr. Omaima Mohammed Arab secured the first runner-up position, while Lawrencia Bessah Esinu, a physician assistant, was named second runner-up. Dauda Faridatu and Dora Debra placed third and fourth runner-up, respectively.

Themed "Health for All," this year's Miss Health Ghana pageant aimed to raise awareness about the importance of seeking healthcare, particularly for women and children. The contestants showcased their understanding of health issues and their ability to advocate for positive change.

In her acceptance speech, Ms. Codo expressed gratitude to her supporters and outlined her plans to make a positive impact on society. "I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported me from here in Ghana and everyone around the world. Their words of encouragement boosted my morale, and I fought through to the end," she remarked.

Ms. Codo highlighted her commitment to promoting self-care among women, particularly in the area of hair therapy, to prevent the spread of viral, fungal, and bacterial diseases. She also emphasized the importance of empowering women and raising awareness about various health concerns.

Madam Gladys Akyere Rockson, Chief Executive Officer of Lamrock Agency, the organizers of the pageant, commended all the finalists for their outstanding performances. "I want to, first of all, congratulate the queens for their efforts, and I am hopeful that they will go out there and impact society," she stated.

Reaffirming the pageant's mission, Madam Rockson emphasized the importance of health and the need to raise awareness about various health issues, including women's empowerment. She also announced the agency's initiative to distribute 10,000 menstrual cups for free as part of their campaign to promote healthy living.
