David Oscar counts his blessings

Reggae artiste, David Oscar is steadily carving a good reputation with inspiring lyrics, and his latest single, Count Your Blessings is no exception.

The song is an expression of gratitude for the little things in life that often go unnoticed, delivering a message of faith, resilience and gratitude for divine guidance, even in the face of life’s challenges.

Count Your Blessings blends Oscar's signature reggae style with thoughtful lyrics, creating a message about perseverance and faith.

It equally explores essence of bouncing back from adversity through faith in Jah (God) with part of the lyrics saying, “even if I stumble and fall…I and I will keep on standing tall.”

The new song encourages listeners to embrace struggles as opportunities to demonstrate strength through conviction.

In an interview with Graphic Showbiz, David shared that the inspiration for the song came from personal experiences and the realisation that life's smallest moments can bring the greatest joy.

“I'm a firm believer that it's the little things that count. A beautiful sunset, a good conversation with a friend, or a warm cup of coffee on a chilly morning. These are the things that make life worth living.

“I'm grateful for the opportunity to share my music with the world. I hope Count Your Blessings will inspire people to appreciate the little things in life and find joy in everyday moments,” he said.

In 2006, while still at the University of Ghana, David Oscar was voted Ghana's Best Comedy Icon when he participated in the reality series "Stars of the Future" organised by Charter House Ghana, where he came out tops out of over 1000 up and coming comedians.

However, David Oscar put his comedy career on hold to become a reggae musician and has since then collaborated with other popular Ghanaian artistes such as Afriyie Wutah and internationally with the 2014 BEFFTA Awards (UK) winner for spoken word, Lyric Da Nkechi.

On April 1, 2025, David released Thank You Jah to express his full thanks to God for a smooth transition from being a comedian to a reggae musician in an industry that mostly dwarf efforts of creatives.

Some of the songs he has released so far are Hold On, Haters Feelings, We Are the Light, Legal Tender, Never Cheat, Steadfast Love and I am God.
