Since the launch of Year of Return in 2019, Ghana has become the preferred destination for African Americans and people of Black descent across the world especially during the Christmas celebrations.
A member of the organising team, Usher Frimpong known in showbiz circles as Usher 1 told Graphic Showbiz that it was important to see Ghana’s culture through dance.
He mentioned that while many units of the creative industry such as music, fashion, movies have been dominant in the promotion of culture during the period, little attention had been accorded those in the dance sector.
As such, Diaspora Dance & Arts Day Party is intends to throw the spotlight on Ghana’s dance industry as well as the different cultural dances in Ghana.
“The Diaspora Dance and Arts Day Party is aimed among others at reinventing the dance industry in Ghana as well as throw more light on our beautiful dances. This commendable dance event is a definite medium of selling the African culture.
“We hope the event will also serve as a confidence booster for others who are reluctant to take their dancing talent to the professional level,” he said.

Usher 1 also noted that even though Diaspora Dance & Arts Day Party is eight months away, it was launched early to start earnest promotions to arouse interests of patrons early.
“I’m currently in touch with chorographers, studio owners and dance directors back home who have started working tirelessly to make the maiden event successful.
“Even though we want to project our traditional dances, there will also be space for popular dances such as Azonto, Salsa, Kizomba, Ballet, Bboy among many others,” he added.
