DJ Bridash: Event organisers should treat young DJs with fairness

DJ Bridash, has spoken out about a tough early career experience where he wasn't paid after a corporate booking.

In an Instagram post last week, he shared how he walked from La Beach to Kokomlemle after the event because he had no transport money.

DJ Bridash, now an established figure on Ghana's DJ circuit, used the experience to call out event organisers to treat young DJs with fairly.

In an interview with Graphic Showbiz on Monday, January 26, DJ Bridash, called on event organisers to honour agreements, respect creatives and treat young DJs with fairness and professionalism.

Using his past experience, he highlighted the need for clearer payment structures within Ghana’s event industry.

He urged event planners to adopt basic safeguards such as deposits, written agreements and clear payment timelines to protect all parties involved.

“Ghana's event industry can only benefit from professionalism and fair play. Sharing my experience on social media last week wasn’t for attention but to highlight the plight of young Creatives who are always taken advantage of.

“I want event organisers to take a look at the poor treatment they met out and a reminder for young creatives, particularly up and coming DJs to insist on fair treatment. My message is simple and clear ‘treat creatives with respect, and let's build a stronger entertainment industry’”, he said.

A lead DJ at Htz FM, DJ Bridash, whose real name is Bright Ewusi, is the host of Daybreak Hitz and Night Ride Show.

His contribution to music promotion has earned him industry recognition.

In 2024, he received two nominations at the Guinness Ghana DJ Awards in the categories of Male Radio DJ of the Year and Record Promoter of the Year.

In addition to his radio work and DJing, DJ Bridash has also made inroads as a music creator and collaborator.

His songs such as Strong Bond, featuring King Maaga and Yaw Berk, showed his versatility.
