So come Saturday, September 5, the Folks Place of the National Theatre will come alive with a performance of Agbako.
Agbako is a Ga word which literally means ‘untold’.

In this perrformance which is a bricolage - blend of drama, poetry, music, story telling and dance, a detailed account of the history of the Ga State is given in an artistic form.

This all-promising production by Play House.kom employs the artistic work of Shidaa Cultural Troupe, poets and actors from the University of Ghana’s Performing Arts department and University of Cape Coast’s Theatre Studies Department.

The production will also feature instrumentalists such as flutists and acoustic guitarists and segments of the outstanding epic play on Homowo staged by Act for Change during the 2015 Homowo festival.

Agbako is based on well researched information and set in a typical village scene with scenic designs that predicts the good old African story telling days when all and sundry converged in the village square when the moon was up, brightly in the clouds of the skies.

The play was conceptualised, written and directed by Oswald Okaitei noted for his numerous poetry performances on televisions and radio stations in Ghana and as well for his comedies, In The Bag of a Woman, In Man’s Libido and Beautyful Nonsense.

As is usual with all his productions, Oswald will treat patrons with a ‘starter poetry’ performances.
Agbako is supported by Graphic Showbiz, TV Africa, Citi FM, The Insight Newspaper, GTV and Radio Gold.
