Following music trends will cost you a lot -Ambolley to young acts

Veteran Ghanaian Highlife musician, Gyedu Blay Ambolley is entreating young artistes not to be intimidated into following music trends but stay true to their skills since that will make them stand out.

Speaking in a recent interview with Graphic Showbiz, the Simigwado singer mentioned that it was essential for up and coming artistes to strive for excellence by staying true to their identity.

“It's essential to find your unique voice, study your craft, and strive for excellence. Don't just follow trends; create your path and stay true to your identity.

“Remember professionalism, commitment and knowledge of your craft will make you,” he stated.

Ambolley recently made headlines when he told Graphic Showbiz in an interview that he will not collaborate with any artiste, especially the young ones, even if he is offered a fortune, since they don’t meet his standards

In the said interview, he noted that he has built a good reputation and until such musicians appreciate and uphold the standard of preserving Ghana's rich music legacy, Ambolley will continue to turn down their requests for collaborations.

“I am not looking at the money. I am not going to say because they have money, I am going to charge them and do it. It has to be what I believe in and the substance of the music must have a positive impact on listeners.

“In our time, we learnt what music really was and the rudiments of music composition, arrangement and all other elements that make good music. That is not available to the young ones lately. All they do is to depend on the computer and after that give themselves all kinds of titles,” he stated.
