GBG Fashion Show at Goethe Institute

‘TWAS a night of evening wear, corporate wear, casual wear and traditional wear created by young fashion designers when the German Goethe Institute, Cantonments, Accra, hosted the GBG Fashion and Art Show on Saturday, October 21, 2023.

The event, organised by Youth & Skill, in collaboration with the German Goethe Institute, saw models display the collections of the fashion designers on the runway to the admiration of patrons. (Related fashion article: 'Fashion Shows' pimping women over selling apparel - Van Calebs)

In addition to the fashion show, some individuals received citations for their works and dedication to the fashion industry on the night.

Speaking at the event, South Africa's High Commissioner to Ghana, H.E. Grace Mason, urged the young designers to leverage creative designs to promote Africa. She commended them and asked them to build upon their work to improve the positive impact of the fashion industry in Ghana.

“I’m honoured to see young artists in the fashion industry come out to display our culture through these creative designs. I must say that it is essential we hold our culture in high esteem. I will entreat them to continue what they are doing and leverage designs to attract more tourists,” she said.

GBG Fashion and Art Show was graced by Mrs Kulu, CEO of Club Smooth; Ms Seble, CEO of Abyssinia Ethiopian Restaurant; Gospel Musician Prophet Joseph Atarah and Rev. Cleopatra Mouiche, among others.

The event was sponsored by Adonko Next Level Premium Energy Drink, Angel Soft Drinks, Atlantic Mall, Ghandour Cosmetics, Victor Otem, a premium brand from the Democratic Republic of Congo, etc.
