GFTC Awards tomorrow

THE second edition of Ghana Film and Television Crew Awards (GFTC Awards) aimed at honouring the hard-working crew behind the success of contents we see on our television and in films is set to take place on April 29 at the Snap Cinema- Accra.

In all, 23 awards will be given on the night. some of the categories include Best Reality Show, Best Director, Best Film, Overall Best Crew, Best Sports Show, Best Current Affairs Show, Outstanding Actress and Outstanding Actor, Best Story, Best Special Effects and Best Entertainment Show.     

Speaking in an interview with Graphic Showbiz, CEO of Footprint Entertainment, organiser of the awards, Samuel Gyandoh, said most of the time, those who work behind the scenes on TV and films are not recognised for their hard work hence GFTC Awards. 

 “We put in the hard work but because we are behind the scenes, our works are not appreciated. I feel this awards scheme will put a spotlight on the hard-working men and women who are behind the scenes doing amazing things but their efforts are hardly noticed,” he said.                    

According to him, although the maiden edition took place in 2015, the event took a long break because of financial constraints.                       

“The maiden edition was a success but we could not continue doing it because of funds and I would want to use this opportunity to urge sponsors to come on board even though we are bent on doing it on our own. Sponsors coming on board will help make things easier,” he stated.
