AMWeF Benefit Concert honours two patrons
Two supporters of the Ageing Musicians Welfare Fund (AMWeF) have been honoured at the AMWeF Benefit Concert at the +233 Jazz Pub and Grill in Accra.
The Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of the National Investment Bank (NIB), Dr John Kweku Asamoah and the Executive Secretary of the Ghana Free Zones Board, Mr Michael Okyere Baafi, received citations for their unalloyed and distinguised support for AMWeF over the years.
The citation in honour of Dr Asamoah in part read, “In your capacity as MD of NIB, you have consistently supported AMWeF in various initiatives and your heartwarming and enthusiastic patronage of the music industry in Ghana in general and the ageing and incapacitated musicians is indeed worthy of appreciation.”

For Mr Okyere Baafi, the citation read in part, “As the Executive Secretary of the Ghana Free Zones Board you have displayed an affinity with the music industry in general and the cause of AMWeF by supporting in your own unique way, the welfare of our ageing and incapacitated musicians.
This is indeed worth of appreciation.”
In a speech, the President of MUSIGA, Bice Osei Kuffour lauded the contribution of the honorees and others who have supported the work of AMWeF over the years and invited corporate Ghana to support the works of these ageing musicians who provided succor and inspiration for our nation.
The Director of Special Projects and Communications for MUSIGA, Ahuma Bosco Ocansey , also known as Daddy Bosco recounted the AMWeF journey and paid tribute to the musicians of yesteryears for their contribution to nation building through their music.
The NIB MD, Dr Asamoah, expressed his appreciation to MUSIGA for the honour done him and invited corporate Ghana to support the cause of AMWeF in particular and the music industry in general.
Performers for the night included Naa Amanua of Wulomei fame; Highlife King, Nana Kwame Ampadu I; Kwabena Akwaboah Snr and Kuami Eugene backed by the Shabo band with ace comedian Derek Kobina Bonney, known as DKB as compere.
Sponsors for the night included +233 Jazz Pub & Grill, National Investment Bank (NIB), Ghana Free Zones Authority, Axiss Shipping, National Petroleum Authority (NPA) and Forest Commission.

Meanwhile the Presidential Grand Ball which was postponed from December last year is scheduled for March 29 at the Accra International Conference Centre.
