Gramps Morgan appoints Ghanaian executive as Ghana-Jamaica homecoming ambassador

Three-time Grammy Award-winning reggae artist Gramps Morgan has appointed Ghanaian businesswoman Monalisa Effah as ambassador for the Ghana-Jamaica Homecoming initiative.

The ceremony took place at the African Regent Hotel in Accra on Monday April 6, 2026.

Ms Effah, who has spent more than a decade working in diaspora relocation and cross-border investment in Ghana, was selected for her experience in guiding individuals, families and corporations through the process of resettling and investing on the continent.

The Ghana-Jamaica Homecoming initiative is rooted in the cultural and ancestral ties between the two countries.

It seeks to encourage members of the diaspora to reconnect with Africa in a structured and practical way.

Mr Morgan said the appointment was a natural choice, citing Ms Effah’s background in expatriate relocation and institutional support as the type of hands-on experience the initiative requires.

Ms Effah said she was honoured by the appointment.

“Homecoming takes preparation, trust and the right guidance. I am honoured to carry this mandate and to ensure that those making the journey from Jamaica and beyond find a Ghana that is ready to receive them,” she said.

She added that the initiative reflects a shift in relations between Ghana and the Caribbean, moving beyond cultural celebration towards more deliberate and long-term engagement.
