Abuse in marriage is certainly not a subject of interest for many musicians to sing about it.. However, that is not the case for ace Highlife musician Harry Abban.

The artiste hopes to ignite discussions on the negative strains of the menace and he is doing just that with his latest song, Otilo.

Recorded by sound engineer Kwaku Mensah in Amsterdam, Harry encourages listeners to not desist from walking out of any marriage that threatens their mental well-being and life through verbal and emotional abuse in Otilo.

He sings about how people are silently battling abuse in marriages but have kept it to themselves for fear of losing their spouses.

To listeners, Otilo is a good piece to charge them not to lose themselves in marriages that are a threat to their lives and good mental state.

In an interview with Graphic Showbiz at the press launch of Otilo which took place at MJ Grand Hotel, East Legon, over the weekend, the singer noted that the topic of abusive marriages has always been dear to him, considering the many lives lost to it.

“I know about friends who are going through abusive marriages and are still married because of the excuse of children involved.

“Just look at the Ekueme singer from Nigeria who died from an abusive marriage. I believe such a tragic death could have been prevented,” he said.
