Kwaw Kese to miss MTN carols night

When the fourth edition of the MTN Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols comes off on Friday, December 19 at the Accra International Conference Centre, a performer followers of the programme are likely to miss is rapper, Kwaw Kese.

The man, also referred to widely as Abodam, was a key attraction at the three previous bashes.

At those shows, he wowed guests with his costume, props  or  hilarious Fante interpretation of popular carols.

In 2012 for instance, he emerged on stage with a live fowl under his armpit.

Last year, he was accompanied on stage by a dog.

His unpredictable nature that spiced the carols night would definitely be absent this year because he is currently in prison custody in Kumasi for unlawful use of a substance suspected to be Indian hemp.

He was first remanded on November 24 for two weeks by the Kumasi Metropilitan Asembly (KMA) Court  and was refused bail when the case went before the court again last Monday.

There was every indication that Kwaw Kese was going to be invited to this year’s carols night and several people were already guessing what prank he would have unleashed on the audience.

A source at MTN’s Events Department admitted that Kwaw Kese had used the carols night platform creatively to entertain guests since it started but  he, unfortunately, cannot make it this year.

“All I can say is that Abodam is not on the bill this year. He was extremely entertaining in the past, circumstances beyond his and our control do not allow his participation in the 2014 show,” the MTN source said.

All the same, there are other catchy items slated for the event which the communications company uses annually to bring all sections of society together to sing with one voice in praise of God.

Personalities scheduled to sing this year include boxers Bukom Banku and Ayitey Powers.

They were opponents in the ring but in the Christmas spirit of peace and reconciliation, the two guys would sings carols together on stage.

Other performers on the bill are Samini, Kwaku Gyasi,  Raquel, El Dunamis Choir, Kbee and  the 2014 MTN Hit-Maker winner, Torgbe.
