Miss Universe Ghana off to Miami
Miss Universe Ghana 2014, Abena Akuaba Appiah, left Ghana last Friday, to the United States of America to begin preparation towards the upcoming Miss Universe finale at Miami, Florida, on January 25, 2015.
She was accompanied to the airport by her family and the organisers of the Miss Universe Ghana pageant.
Miss Universe 2014 will be the 63rd Miss Universe pageant and will be held at Florida International University in Doral, Miami, Florida, USA.
A number of 88 contestants from all over the world including Ghana’s Abena Appiah will compete for the crown.
The current Miss Universe with the crown is Gabriela Isler of Venezuela.
According to Abena Akuaba Appiah, she believes she can use her hair to make it to the finals.
"I am going to Miss Universe as a natural hair contestant. I think that is the first time in the history of pageantry in Ghana and I hope I can stand out with that.
“I will use my multi talents which include singing and playing the guitar to my advantage and hopefully that would be enough to make Ghana proud. I also need Ghanaians to vote for me on the Miss Universe website so it improves my chances,” she said.
