MTN sources say over 1,000 nominations were received and teams had gone out to visit and verify 30 shortlisted project sites spread across the country.

“This year’s series promises to be even more exciting than last year’s because the jury have come across some really touching stories,” the source said.

“The sad thing is that some very good projects will have to be dropped. The series will begin airing next month and viewers can expect stories that will truly touch them.”

The ‘MTN Heroes of Change’ initiative was launched in 2013 to reward and recognise hard working Ghanaians bringing change to their communities and Ghana as a whole.

MTN hopes to encourage the spirit of giving back to the community through the programme.

The final selection jury which includes Rev. Albert Ocran (Motivational Speaker), Dr. Doris Dartey (Communications Consultant), Mr. Mohammed Awal (Publisher) and Mr. Sidney Casely Hayford (Economist), will select the top 10 projects which will then be televised for a 13-week period.

The final ceremony for ‘the programme is slated for the first week of December.

The owner of the project with the greatest impact will be the winner and will receive project support of GH¢100,000.

There will be category winners for Education, Health and Economic Empowerment, each of whom will receive GH¢20,000, and seven additional prizes of GH¢5,000 each.
