Kwao on his joy when his artistes hit
Artiste Manager, Kwao

My greatest joy is to see artistes blow - Kwao

HE enjoys what he does and there is no doubt about that. For over a decade, artiste manager, Kwao has shaped the careers of many artistes including D-Cryme, Stay Jay, Flowkingstone, Papa Yawson and Ahkan.

However, his joy knows no bounds anytime his artistes hit. That feeling just catapaults him to cloud nine and of course he loves ‘staying’ there.

“Nothing beats that feeling when an artiste manager sees a young underground talent blow into a big star. That is certainly the mark of any good manager but it is doesn’t come on a silver platter. It comes with a lot of sacrifice and hardwork.

“You always have to be ready for anything. Sometimes, the betrayal from these artistes when they get to the peak of the ladder of success can be frustrating particularly when you have invested so much.

“But personally, I overlook these things and rather ride on the pride of seeing my artiste making it with flying colours,” he told Graphic Showbiz.

Kwao real name Kwao Richardwho has also managed the likes of actress Nikki Samonas believes there has to be a strong bond between the artiste and manager and that has been his recipe for staying strong in the artiste management field.

Kwao, who is also a digital media consultant, social media account manager, corporate and personal branding expert says he likes to keep a low profile.

He disclosed to Graphic Showbiz he has plans to establish a record label to support underground artistes.

“We have just few record labels in Ghana and I know I will have more impact in the music industry when I established one. I want to use this opportunity to big up Lynx Entertainment and Ruff Town Records for their support of the sector.

“Some of these young artistes are ungrateful and as a result, make it difficult for individuals and record labels to help them. Meanwhile, lack of support stifle the efforts of musicians,” he said.
