Nkrumah celebrated on Founder's day in Ho

FOUNDERS’ Day was marked in Ho with fun and food fairs, cultural drumming and dancing, and other musical performance at various restaurants, drinking spots and locations in the region capital on Sunday.

At the Five Star Lounge at the Ho Barracks New Town, for instance, chiefs and queens enjoyed lunch at the Sokode Chop and Chill restaurant, with traditional and dance hall music in the background to mark the day.

Meanwhile, there were pork show and 1957 Shawarma stands at the venue, adding more flavour to the occasion which was dedicated to the 116th anniversary of the birth of Ghana’s first President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah.

The host, ‘Prince,’ said a country which does not honour its heroes is not worth dying for.

“Kwame Nkrumah was our hero and we must continue to celebrate him as such, he added.

  Regional Minister

At the Ho Residency, the celebration coincided with the birthday of the Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, 53, and the launching of a new album, Stars of Volta of Parade, by the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) – Volta.

The event featured legendry Togolese singer, Agboti Yao, and other popular singers, including Tony D, Israel Maweta, Lady Pat, and C. Wayo, who held members of the public spell-bound with thrilling performances which extended late into the night.

Among the celebrants was the Ambassador to Togo, Captain George Nfojoh (rtd) whose birthday also coincided with that of Dr Kwame Nkrumah.

He paid tribute to Dr Kwame Nkrumah, saying his vision would continue to inspire African nations, and generations yet unborn.
