Not by force to do movies on coronavirus –Paul Gee

Movie producer Paul Gee is asking Ghanaians putting pressure on them to do movies on the coronavirus to stop because they are not obliged to do so.

“Since the coronavirus got into Ghana, there has been mounting pressure on us to do movies on the deadly virus but no one can force us to do so. If we feel like doing it we will but we can’t be pressured.

“I have heard comments that we do useless movies like Atta Mortuary Man but have failed to do movies on such an important thing,” he told Graphic Showbiz recently.

According to Paul Gee doing movies on coronavirus is not something Ghanaians will be interested in purchasing while the producers will also need money to pay the cast and crew.

“Lilwin or any popular actor will charge for his services and we cannot pay him knowing no one will buy it. If the government wants to give us funds to shoot such a movie then we can consider it.

“A few movie producers have done short skits on it but doing a whole movie will depend on the willingness of the producer. Such a movie will need a huge budget because we need to involve more actors and educate the masses on it. We cannot just do a movie on the coronavirus because we want to do it,” he said.

Paul Gee applauded Lilwin and other Kumawood actors for coming out to educate Ghanaians on the prevention of the deadly virus.

Paul Gee real name Paul Adjei has worked with prominent actors such as Kofi Adu (Agya Koo), Lilwin, Emelia Brobbey, Vivian Jill, Nana Ama McBrown and Akua Ataa (Kyeiwaa). Some of the movies he has produced are Okomfo Anokye, Agya Koo Azonto, Ama Ghana, Mama Africa, Emmanuel, and Mallam Issah.
