Obuobia to women: Don’t let yourself go

As a politician and media personality, Obuobia Darko knows how important good grooming is.

She was behind the console at Radio Gold for 14 years.

The 2016 parliamentary candidate for the NDC in the 2016 elections, has been slaying with her style on TV Africa’s morning show, Breakfast Live, where she is a co-host.

Obuobia’s great fashion sense may be surprising to some but she tells Showbiz she has always been a fashionista.

“Hahahhahahaha, for me, there is nothing new to who people see today.

I have always been fashion conscious, if you know about the Leos, you would find out that it is within us to look good.

“But you see, during the election days, we had to move around a lot and sitting behind the console too also prevented people from seeing who I really was so far as looking good is concerned but then after the elections, my team and I decided to rebrand and bring out who I am and that has been it since then,” she disclosed.

The host of Pause for Three Minutes, a programme on YouTube also revealed that she does not have any glam squad.

“No, I don’t have any squad who take care of my looks, I do everything myself. If I know I have a fabric with pink patterns, I automatically know that I need pink shoes to go with it and that is it.

“Because I have done my checks and know my style which I normally want to keep simple, it was not difficult fixing my wardrobe as the host of TV Africa’s morning show.

Now I exercise a lot and I check my diet as well,” she said.

Considering the effort she puts into staying in shape and looking glam, it was only right when she advised women not to let themselves go no matter the circumstances.

“It is not right as women to just forget who we were before we got married or before children came.

We need to take care of ourselves.

You see, if a man married you when you were size 12 and after birth you are size 18, you should work on getting back on track because I believe that, the man wanted a size 12 that is why he came for you.

He may not voice it out but trust me, he has issues. To the single mothers too, do not give up on life.”

She had some words for the men too. “To the men, please do not leave everything on us, if you realise a change in us, help us, encourage us, we cannot do it alone, take us with you on your walks, “ she said.

Obuobia also touched on her hosting duties on TV Africa. “It has been good so far, you know my first love is journalism so it feels good coming back to it.

“The criticisms have been good, those that I think will be of help I take, others that I know will not help me, I let them go. I make sure I am professional about discharging my duties,” she stated.

If there is one thing she wants to be remembered for, it is her humanitarian works.

“I want to be remembered for the impact I made in society with the platforms I have been privileged with.

“That is exactly the reason behind the Pause for Three Minutes show I do.

There is another one coming called, Pause,

This Is My Life.

I also have a foundation that takes care of the less privilege in society among others,” she said.
