Ghanaian musician Black Sherif has paid a visit to the German Ambassador to Ghana, Frederik Landshöft, and his family at the Ambassador’s residence.
The visit was particularly special for the Ambassador, who has been a fan of Black Sherif’s music since first hearing his hit song, Kwaku the Traveller, during a winter evening in Berlin in 2022.
According to the German Embassy in Ghana, the song became the Ambassador’s “song of the year” and sparked his interest in the musician’s work.
Since then, Black Sherif’s music has remained part of the family’s life, accompanying them from Germany to Ghana after they moved to the country last year.
The Embassy said Lomo Lomo featured prominently around the time of their move, while IRON BOY became the soundtrack to their first year in Ghana.
The family also had the opportunity to watch Black Sherif perform live at Zaama Disco in 2025, making his visit to the residence a special occasion for them.
During the visit, Black Sherif and his team engaged the Ambassador and his family in discussions about rap, highlife and Afrobeats, as well as their favourite songs and the stories behind the music.
They also discussed the musician’s latest EP, SUN SHERIF.
The meeting further highlighted the musical links between Ghana and Germany, with the Embassy pointing to the role of Berlin-based German-Ghanaian producer Ghanaian Stallion in producing Black Sherif’s First Sermon and Second Sermon.
The musician has also built a following in Germany through his music.
The Embassy described Black Sherif as humble, thoughtful and reflective during the meeting, while also commending the professionalism of his team.
The musical conversation later took a lighter turn when Black Sherif and Ambassador Landshöft faced each other across a table tennis table.
Black Sherif emerged winner in a close contest, leaving the Ambassador, according to the Embassy, still “processing the result.”
The Embassy congratulated Black Sherif on the release of SUN SHERIF and thanked him for what it described as a special afternoon.
