Quarmy Zaggy sings for love

It seems highlife artiste, Quarme Zaggy, cannot stop preaching about love in his songs. Since he had his breakthrough with his first song, Just The Two of Us, featuring Okyeame Kwame in 2011, his subsequent songs have all been about love.

His  True Love, Temimole, Kakyere Me and See-Saw are all love themed and his latest, Mate DƐ  toes the line.

Mate DƐ which features Shatta Rako was recorded by Cabum of OM studios. The song rendered in Twi is simple yet has a catchy tune.

On the song, Quarme Zaggy boasts about the unique qualities his lover possesses to a friend. Like a king ruling his kingdom, he proudly talks about how he rules the “heart of the woman of his life”. He says no woman can match up to her.

He uses words such as “pretty queen”, “angel of my heart” and my “perfect soul mate” to describe his lover.

Mate DƐ is a danceable tune that will get people on to the dance floor. And for those who might not get up on their feet, it is sure to get them bust moves or nod their heads in their seats.

In an interview with Showbiz on Monday, Quarme Zaggy, real name, Nana Kwame Ampah, said he has always been inspired to preach about love because since childhood, he had had the desire to be a marriage counsellor.

“Every artiste is recognised by a particular thing and I want to be identified with just doing love songs. I don’t want to sing about any other subject apart from love. So it could be either platonic, divine or romantic,” he said.

Quarmy Zaggy, a graduate of Cape Coast Polytechnic, got a nomination at the 4Syte Music Video Awards in 2011. This pushed him into the music limelight.
