Rex Omar: Dzifa Gomashie has my full blessing as Tourism Minister
Renowned Ghanaian highlife artist, Rex Omar has thrown his weight behind Dzifa Gomashie's appointment as minister-designate for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts.
Despite being a top contender for the role himself, Omar has graciously endorsed Gomashie, expressing his confidence in her ability to excel in the sector.
Omar's backing is particularly notable, given his significant contributions to Mahama's manifesto on Creative Arts. Many industry insiders had tipped him to lead the ministry, but the role ultimately went to Gomashie.
In a recent interview on Akoma FM's Entertainment 360, the veteran singer emphasised that Gomashie's appointment is a step in the right direction.
“If you analyse the appointments of President Mahama, you realise that virtually all the appointees served as deputy ministers in the previous administration, this put them and Dzifa in a pool position to make an impact”.
“I’m not disappointed that I was not selected for the role. I was given a task to play during the campaign and it has ended. I have not called anyone to reward me for that. With the pool of experience Dzifa possesses, she has my full support to strive”.

Dzifa Gomashie’s names had come up as a popular choice for the position, her naming by the President was widely hailed by the creative players.
Music producer, Fred Kyei Mensah and actor and CEO of Image Bureau, George Quaye had tipped Dzifa as the best candidate for the position.
Other notable names such as Baba Sadiq had equally come up for the role during debates before the nomination last Thursday.
Abla Dzifa Gomashie is a veteran actress, accomplished politician and creative arts expert with a distinguished track record spanning advocacy, youth leadership, and cultural promotion.
She is due for vetting on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.
