Shatta Wale: Performing with Vybz Kartel is a dream come true like winning a Grammy

Popular Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale has shared his excitement about performing with Jamaican legend Vybz Kartel, describing the experience as a huge achievement, comparable to winning a Grammy award.

In a recent interview on Joy News days after his performance at Vybz Kartel’s Freedom Concert last December, Shatta Wale said, “The experience has been beautiful; this is a dream come true for Shatta Movement fans. Everyone knows my journey as a dancehall musician, and performing with Vybz Kartel is a dream come true."

When asked about the significance of his performance at the Freedom Street concert on his career, Shatta Wale explained, “Vybz Kartel's endorsement is equivalent to winning a Grammy for me. Because Vybz is a global icon, an artist everyone knows and loves, and to receive his endorsement and perform together is my greatest achievement."

 Held at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica on December 31, 2024, the event marked Vybz Kartel's triumphant return to the stage after 14 years behind bars. 

The star-studded lineup also included Skillibeng, Busta Rhymes, Popcaan, and Spice, making it a landmark moment in dancehall history.
