According to the South African envoy to Ghana, there has been a remarkable increase of over 240 per cent in Ghanaian visitors to South Africa since the implementation of the Visa Waiver in November 2023.

She made this known at a corporate networking event she hosted at the official residence of the South African High Commissioner in Accra on Friday, August 24, 2024.

The event brought together key figures including Deputy South African High Commissioner Thando Dalamba, members of the diplomatic corps, members of the South African Chamber of Commerce, travel trade partners and the media.

H.E. Mason expressed her appreciation to the Ghanaian government for its efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between the two nations. "The strong bond between Ghana and South Africa is evident, and we are thrilled to see so many Ghanaians choosing South Africa as their travel destination. We look forward to welcoming even more visitors in the future as our countries continue to deepen their partnership," she remarked.

The West African Regional Manager of South African Tourism, Thekiso Ralokojane, echoed the High Commissioner's sentiments and encouraged Ghanaians to explore the unique experiences South Africa has to offer.

"South Africa offers a more authentic and diverse experience than many other destinations. From our vibrant cities to our breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural heritage, there is something for everyone,” he noted.

Ralokojane invited Ghanaians to discover the beauty and warmth of South Africa for themselves and encouraged them to take advantage of the ongoing summer campaign to book their next holiday experience in South Africa.

The gathering highlighted the ongoing commitment to fostering closer ties, improving trade relations and promoting tourism between Ghana and South Africa.

The evening was a celebration of the growing relationship between the two countries, with both officials and attendees expressing optimism for continued collaboration and mutual growth in the tourism sector.

There was dancing to Ghanaian and South African music as well as a lot to eat and drink throughout the night
