Stacy restores hope

It's been only six and a half months since Restoration with Stacy (RWS) started airing on TV3, but already it has been a blessing to many people who have appeared on the show.

Designed with a view to providing fulfilment and restoration for its guests after they share their life stories, the programme has chalked up many successes as recounted by hostess, Stacy Amoateng.

With a deep sense of fulfilment herself, Stacy told Showbiz, her greatest joy was the ability of the programme to help put smiles on the faces of people who otherwise would have lost hope.

And personalities who have passed through the show are both well-known stars and ordinary people who had peculiar stories to share and were looking for help and hope.

Familiar guests include Rev. Owusu-Bempah, Omar Sheriff Captan, Pascaline Edwards, Pastor Azigiza Jnr, Prophet Emmanuel Badu-Kobi, Hawa Abubakari, Nana Ama McBrown, Emelia Brobbey, Amanda Jissih and Irene Siaw.

“We try to just let people know that there is hope for everyone, there are lots of give aways for our guests by courtesy of our sponsors.’’
Among its recent feats, RWS fully sponsored the renewal of vows of award-winning actor, Majid Michel and his wife, Virna.

It also raised money to sponsor surgery for a guest who had been disfigured following an acid attack by her husband. The surgery took place even before the woman appeared on the programme.

“The doctor was in the studio and that same week, she did the various tests and the first surgery was done. She has a few more surgeries to do but it has all been paid for. Her three boys are also being taken care of,’’ said Stacy, who explained that the programme had a deeper meaning and objective beyond just being a TV show.

“We all have wants and needs but we let it all go and concentrate on others. Restoration with Stacy is more of a ministry than just a TV show. At the end of every show, someone is restored.”

Through the programme, help has come to a widow and her two daughters who lived in an uncompleted building at Medie in the Greater Accra region but were given decent accommodation through the benevolence of Mr Ofori Sarpong, CEO of Special Ice.,

“An old man, Mr Kwaku Zanu, who was diagnosed with prostrate cancer has also had his surgery done and his wish is to run a corn-mill business which the team is working on to provide for him,” she narrates.

In spite of all these success stories, it has not been a bed of roses for Stacy who says she draws strength from Christ and is determined to soldier on irrespective of the challenges she encounters.

Some people, she revealed, concoct all kinds of stories just so they can get support. Unknown to them, Stacy and her team conduct independent investigations before reaching out to people. “If you have a medical condition, let’s have your medical history,’ she says.
