Stonebwoy’s ‘Jejereje’ fell flat after one week – Blakk Rasta

Renowned musician and broadcaster Blakk Rasta expressed concerns about how fast songs quickly fade out after its release.

In a recent interview on Joy Prime, the Barack Obama hit-maker, Roselyn Fell attributed the short shelf life of contemporary songs to artists prioritizing trends over creating enduring music.

 “I remember Lucky Dube once said he never went into the studio to make hits. He went into the studio to speak into the microphone and if the songs some out and they become hits because people resonate with the message, then it’s a different thing,” he said. According to Blakk, anytime he had resolved to produce a hit song, it eluded him, noting, "hits are often tied to trends, unless they create a new wave." He cited Stonebwoy's "Jejereje" as a case study, where despite promising beginnings, its popularity went down shortly after release.

“With no disrespect, love, I mean Stonebwoy is my brother, I love him. He knows I love him. ‘Jejereje’ came out. We were all banging to it. I was in Nkroful when it came out. I said 'wow', this is a great song. I loved the song. After one week, 'Jejereje' has gone to sleep. I love it, I want to see 'Jejereje' go all the way to the top," he said.

Stonebwoy released Jejereje in September 2024 and has garnered over 1.3 million views on YouTube.
