Tony D heads Volta MUSIGA
Musician and radio station owner, Anthony Komla Dagbe, known in showbiz circles as Tony D, was last weekend elected chairman of the Volta Region branch of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA).
MUSIGA national executives were in the Volta region to continue with its peace campaign toward the upcoming general elections and it was a convenient time to elect a new team to manage affairs in the region.

In an acceptance speech, Tony D promised to work diligently with the rest of the new executive body to ensure that musicians in the region get their due recognition to help raise the image of music and MUSIGA.
The new Volta regional chairman was born into a family of musically talented people. His father, the late Stephen Mensah Dagbey, was the founder and leader of the Volta Pioneers Dance Band that was popular in the region in the early 1970s.
Tony D released his debut album, an eight-track collection called Think A Little in 1996. He has since put out over 10 albums.
He later set up the Tony D Music Studio in Ho and helped many up-and-coming artistes realise their ambitions to record under their own names. He has been active in searching for talents in the Volta Region.
Prior to the 2012 general elections, in collaboration with Makose Promotions, he organised musicians for a successful regional peace tour.
Being in the music business and realising the important role radio stations play in publicising works of music, he started Tosh FM in 2013.

According to Tony D, the station does not only promote the works of musicians but also the image of MUSIGA.
“The music business is an important aspect of our culture and everyone must help to sustain it,” Tony D told Showbiz.
