“I am really excited about this and I cannot wait to go for it. Awards like this make me feel appreciated and also encourage me to do more. Who would have thought educating people on the need to live a healthy life would lead to this?

“For me, I do this because I am a witness to what living with an illness, a life-threatening one, feels like. I have my kidney issues, going for therapy and all that is not an easy thing and it is very disturbing, so I would not want any other person to go through it.

“From my findings, I realised it was some habits that we engage in, whose consequences include such diseases, so why not let us spread the word and educate,” she said.

Abigail also thanked her team at UTV for supporting her. “I thank all those behind me; when I conceived this idea of advocating against kidney failures, it was just in a raw state but when I got the chance to host the My Health, My life Show, they made me know I could be and do more than just kidney-related diseases and truth be told, we have done a lot. This is to them as well,” she said.

The annual 3G Awards New York has become a mega event with many celebrities, business professionals and media personalities showing interest.

It made its debut in 2009 and recognises the sacrifice and dedication of the trailblazers of the greater Ghanaian and global communities.
