Artistes such as Sarkodie, EL, Jay So and D Black have held the forte for the hiphop genre nicely and it seems its success story has attracted young folks to the genre and one such artiste is Yaw Berk.

Currently a contestant of this year’s MTN Hit-maker, the graduate of Takoradi Polytechnic has expressed his readiness to “raise the bar” should his music and style be accepted by the masses.

“It hasn’t been an easy journey to reach this far. It’s been a difficult journey with a lot of setbacks but with this MTN platform, I hope to launch a career that many will be pleased with,” he told Showbiz last week Thursday.

To him, the quest for many young artistes like himself to reach the height of their careers have mostly been thwarted by frustrations and the widely held perception that, “you are here to join the noise- makers”.

That, he said is a trend that needed to be discouraged since it killed young talents before they blossomed.

Recounting his experiences, Yaw Berk, real name, Randy Amoah said there were days he had to move from studio to studio to plead for his songs to be recorded since he had no means to pay for the services.

“I didn’t give up. I moved on and I know my inclusion in this year’s MTN Hit-Maker is a sign of great things to come. It hasn’t been easy so I won’t mess up with this opportunity,” he stated.

To prove his readiness for the game after the MTN Hit-Maker competition, Yaw Berk told Showbiz he has done a number of collaborations with Kofi Kinaata and Pappy Kojo which will be released after the show.

“I just want Ghanaians to give me attention and appreciate my style as well,” he added.

The past student of the Adventist Senior High School hopes to champion his roots and native Bono language.

The Mataheko based rapper hopes to work with producers such as Kaywa, Richie and Magnom in future.
