Produced by Kofi Dua Anto (Koda), the orchestra-fused song is a tribute to the one who Christians revere as the Saviour of the world, Jesus. The song highlights the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus who died for the sins of mankind.
In a rather reflective mellow tune, Yesu reminds Christians to revere Jesus as their only Saviour and urges them to always give thanks to Him.
Cwesi’s switch to a mellow tempo composition on Yesu brings out his vocal strength and makes him a delight to listen to.
Yesu brings out Cwesi Oteng’s versatility as a songwriter which is evident with his choice of words
Yesu yɛ madanfo paa, Yesu yɛ me kra agyenkwa
Ohwie ne mogya kronkron no
De mebone nyinaa akyɛ me
Yesu is the official third prelude single off Cwesi’s upcoming album after I Win and Count Your Blessings which were released last year.
Ever since the release of God Dey Bless Me, Cwesi Oteng has been known for fast tempo songs like Kabiyesi, I Win and Count Your Blessings which earned him the reputation as a rock gospel singer. But he chose to go back to his “roots” on Yesu.
He told Showbiz that even though there are many sides to him as a singer, many people are yet to see his “full package” as an artiste.
“Thankfully, my upcoming new album will have loads of stuff to feed the public but now, it is all about Yesu. The emphasis is the person of Jesus and His works of salvation which brings hope to the world.
