Open Book with Beverly to start showing on YouTube
She may have gained fame as an actress, but Beverly Afaglo started her journey in showbiz as a TV presenter.
And now she is back to her first love as host of a new show, Open Book with Beverly, which will start showing this month on YouTube.
Open Book with Beverly will see the actress having weekly discussions with guests on various social issues that have been ignored but are negatively affecting lives.
According to Beverly, she was inspired to host such a show after a conversation with a friend revealed her emotional trauma from years of maltreatment and physical abuse by her stepmother.
Her friend’s troubles encouraged her to research the emotional impact of maltreatment and that was how she discovered that many people were going through similar situations which needed to be addressed.
“Coronavirus has certainly cost humanity a lot, but on the brighter side it has also pushed me to host this show which I know will go a long way to build our society.
“There are many social issues affecting lives but unfortunately, they have been sidelined. I believe stories like that need to be heard by the public to motivate others. The focus of the show will, however, change in subsequent seasons to discuss trending issues,” she stated.
She entreated people to subscribe to her new YouTube channel, Beverly Afaglo TV, to follow and contribute to weekly discussions on various subjects.
Beverly Afaglo started her TV career as the host of TV3’s Music Music and later hosted lifestyle show Beauty and Style on Metro TV before she switched to acting in 2007 when she landed her first movie role.
Her 13-year journey as an actress has been demanding, but Beverly said she was thankful to have found something meaningful and impactful to do in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic which had slowed the vibrancy of the industry.
“While we were observing the lockdown as a result of coronavirus, I found myself writing lots of concepts for TV production and the outcome is this new television show. I entreat individuals and companies to get on board and support me to champion this worthy cause,” she stated.
