Why are we in darkness?
I just settled down to jot down a few points for this article when the lights went out. It has been like this far too often of late. I was annoyed.
But why should I be annoyed? I asked myself. Is the situation not a metaphorical representation of the state of the nation? Are we not somewhat in darkness?

And who put out the light? We were full of confidence at independence but now we have a mental complex and look for salvation from outside. Instead of finding a way through the darkness we blame our leaders or ‘The leadership’.
To come down to earth, let us consider our present constant state of physical darkness. ‘Na who cause am?’, the expressive Pidgin English speaker will ask.
What did the big men at the Akosombo dam do when they found less electricity being generated? Did they tell the truth to authority and suggest a way or ways out of the looming darkness?
