EC re-collates disputed constituencies amidst tight security
The Electoral Commission (EC) has commenced the re-collation and declaration of results for nine disputed constituencies, in compliance with a court order.
The constituencies include Nsawam-Adoagyiri (Eastern Region), Ahafo Ano South West, Ahafo Ano North, and Obuasi East (Ashanti Region), Dome-Kwabenya, Okaikwei Central, Ablekuma North, and Tema Central (Greater Accra Region), as well as Techiman South (Bono East Region).

The Accra High Court instructed the EC to complete the collation process and declare winners in accordance with electoral laws. Additionally, the court directed the Inspector-General of Police to ensure adequate security at the collation centres.
The re-collation exercise is currently underway at the Greater Accra Regional Office of the EC under heavy police and military presence.
While New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidates for the affected constituencies are in attendance, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced its absence. The NDC has also filed an application at the Supreme Court seeking to overturn the High Court's directive.
EC Chairperson Jean Mensa reiterated the Commission’s dedication to upholding the integrity of the electoral process, cautioning against unlawful collations and declarations. “Upholding such unlawful collations and declarations will set a bad precedent for our country and take us back to the dark days,” she stated.
During a media briefing, the EC’s Director of Electoral Services, Benjamin Bano-Bio, noted that both the NPP and NDC had been invited to participate in the process.
He further clarified that the EC had not received any court order to halt the exercise, stressing that the absence of a political party does not invalidate the recollation process.
